They were made for the same kind of house.

The cruet that turned oil and vinegar into a gesture. The salt and pepper set that never left its original box. Two objects, different decades — the same intention.

Some tables are laid. Some are composed.

Christofle Oil & Vinegar Cruet

Two crystal vessels. One silver frame. The kind of object that makes pouring feel like a decision.

Christofle built the structure to hold — and to be seen holding. The base has weight. The handle has arc. The glass catches whatever light the room offers.

It was made for a table that took itself seriously. It still does.

Christofle Salt & Pepper Set, 1950s

It arrived in its original box. It has stayed there.

Cut crystal, solid silver lids — 950 or sterling, French-marked, Minerva-stamped. Four condiment pieces and their stand, untouched by the decades in the way only truly cared-for things are.

Cardeilhac may have had a hand in it. The French didn't always say.

What they did say, they said in silver.
